Ms. Siwy graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and middle school endorsements in Social Studies and Language Arts. Since then, she has taught 4th grade in Florida and 6th grade Language Arts. She also served as a long-term substitute for a reading specialist/math interventionist. In her spare time, Ms. Siwy enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and gardening. She also enjoys reading, watching sports, and spending time with her family.
Ms. Siwy is really looking forward to working at a school with such a strong environmental focus. The students are given the opportunity to experience things that they are learning about in the classroom first-hand by going outdoors. This allows the students to be actively engaged in the learning process and helps them develop an appreciation of nature.
Ms. Siwy shares, “As a first year teacher at PCCS, I want to create a community within my classroom where every student feels valued and appreciated. I hope to inspire my students to follow their dreams and become lifelong learners.”
